The commemorative spurs for the 22nd Gathering in 2008 will be built by Cotton Elliott.

Cotton ElliotCotton, a fourth generation Texas cowboy, has been making spurs for over twenty years. His work has been shown in "Trappings" shows in Flagstaff, Elko, Alpine and Cody. Forged in one piece of carbon steel and overlaid with Sterling Silver, his spurs are both functional, sturdy and a work of art.

Cotton grew up on the Waggoner Ranch in North Central Texas where his dad held down a camp job before becoming a brand inspector. Cotton also served as a brand inspector in New Mexico. He has spent most of his life cowboying in Texas, N.M. and Arizona on outfits like The Babbitt CO bar, the UU bar and the 06 to name a few. This life in the saddle plays a significant role in his ability to build a durable, functional spur that looks good and appeals to working cowboys. His spur forging was influenced quite a lot by the techniques employed by the legendary Adolph Bayers.
